Woman Killed by Poodles?

I saw on TV the other night a news item about a woman almost killed by three pit bulls while trying to save her dog from them. Her dog died from the attack. I haven't seen this in the local paper or other media.

This isn't the first time those dogs have attacked. The owners had five or more pit bulls. This brings so many questions to mind.

Why do these people have so many pit bulls? Why do they have pit bulls at all? Why didn't they do more to keep these aggressive dogs from getting loose? Why hasn't the sheriff's department done something about this? Our neighbor has been attacked more than once by loose dogs, and yet nobody takes responsibility to make sure our streets are safe from loose and wild dogs. Isn't keeping our streets safe more important than more trivial tasks like issuing parking tickets? Why don't our county sheriff or animal control departments do more to control loose dogs and sanction the owners of dogs who attack others?

I like dogs. Connie likes dogs. We just take issue with people who raise dangerous dogs in family neighborhoods, who don't control their dogs and keep them from getting loose. Not all pit bulls are aggressive, but once one displays this behavior, you can't say he's harmless. Pit bulls have killed people. When's the last time you heard of a woman killed by a poodle?

grrrrr

I LOVE Dogs. I have four. BUT, would NEVER have a pit. Sadly the shelters are now filled with pits because they are cute puppies and then get big and people can't control them. Sad, sad, sad.

We live in S. California with a high latino community and they all seem to love pits.

I live not to far from where Michael Vick had his pitbull stables, and my (ex) son-in-law had one. That one seemed to be pretty mild-mannered, but I was always nervous around it.

BTW, you've been tagged. Sorry . . .

Thanks for stopping by! Of course I'll have to comment when there's a "dawg" in the subject. I think there's a pitbull mentality in a lot of the owners of pits, as witnessed in this sad article of the LATimes just this past Sun. http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-cruelty8-2009feb08,0,7249180.story
