Drunk and Crazy

I remember a time when people would walked down the street talking to themselves, and you'd just think they were crazy. And I remember a time when a driver who couldn't stay in their lane was assumed to be drunk.

Now, we just assume you're on the phone.

Isn't it strange that a device that's supposed to make us more sophisticated just makes us seem drunk and crazy? :)

Aside from scary close calls with people driving while impaired by using cell phones, what really annoys me is when I'm surrounded by people in stores carrying on loud, animated conversations with unseen people. I'm forced to listen to other people's conversations when I would prefer to listen to my own thoughts. I also sometimes feel a little left out and lonely when I'm the only quiet one. I suppose I could pull out my phone and call someone too, but I really don't like to engage in mindless chatter. (Mindless blogging is okay, though.) :)
