Velella Velella

The creature so nice, they named it twice!

Local artist Cleo Vilett does beautiful oil paintings of marine life, including our friend Velella velella (two different links).

She's a talented artist; I wish that I could paint like that. Most of my paintings get added to the stack of paintings that no one is allowed to see.

Some of her paintings are a little scary looking, though. On my walls I mostly have paintings of flowers or ballerinas. There is no mistaking that this is a woman's house. :)

One of the paintings of Velella velella is still for sale. With father's day coming up maybe you could do some hinting. ;)

I want them all!! Seriously, i wonder if she'd consider coming down here to paint our reef?!
I live on the Barrier Reef, hence my home only has paintings and sculptures of sea critters. I truly want a bunch of her paintings,i bet delivery is more than painting itself!

Most of the art on our walls was done by Debbie. Our refrigerator, on the other hand, is covered with photographs. No flowers or ballerinas, or even ballerinas that look like flowers.

I don't know the artist, Michelle, but if you offered her airfare maybe she'd come visit. I know I would! :)

What medium does Debbie work in and what does she like to paint? If she doesn't mind, could you post photos of her work? I would love to see it.

Debbie seems to prefer oil pastel, but she's done oil paintings and watercolor and charcoal and glass art (cutting and assembling glass of different colors). She's taken several art classes. She also likes photography.

I've put up some of Debbie's Art and some of her Europe photos fom last year.

I wish I could paint like her, and I'd like to have visited Europe. Maybe some day. :)

Debbie is so talented! I especially loved the paintings of the bottles and the seascape. I wish that I could paint like her too.

Not everyone has Debbie's artistic talent, but what's stopping you from going to Europe? It doesn't have to be expensive and surely you must get vacation time from work.

Go while you're still young. I've seen way too many widows planning trips by themselves, because they thought that there would always be time later. Maybe it's because of my line of work, but I'm accutely aware that none of us knows how much time we have left. I'll stop nagging you now.

Happy Father's Day. :)
