Magic Mystery Ingredient
I'm a sad excuse for a foodie. I like Olive Garden. I like Domino's pizza. I like Subway. May Martha Stewart forgive me.
Still reading? Haven't clicked another page to escape such heresy? Then I'll let you in on the secret ingredient I finally unearthed.
You see, I love the Olive Garden marinara. Something about it is just so tangy and fresh tasting, I almost want to eat the sauce and skip the noodles. (But I don't. I may be crazy, but I'm not stupid!)
I've been trying to make my own marinara from scratch, but I haven't been able to figure out the recipe. I've Googled and noodled and fooled around, but I never quite got it, until the other night. I tried using jalapeños, but they were more hot than tangy.
Well, I was at Quizno's recently, and with my smokehouse beef brisket sandwich I always get a little thing of pickles and pepperoncini to go with it. I learned at Subway that pepperoncinis really do wonders for a sandwich. I was thinking about how great a Subway sandwich is with some pepperoncini on it, and it occurred to me. I should try them in my marinara.
So the other night I skipped the jalapeños and added a couple pepperoncinis, and bingo!, it was perfect. Now I'm thinking maybe that's what Domino's puts in their pizza sauce.
mmmmmmm, pepperoncini!

Okay, now you've gotta post the recipe.
I second the motion.
