Dear Chihuahua...

Newfoundlander

It's been a busy weekend. Yesterday I attended the Sisters Folk Festival and today we went on a long hike along the breathtaking Deschutes River Trail, doing a big loop. I should note that by breathtaking I'm referring to the scenery. The trail is an easy one.

Update: Some of the photos I took today can be found on Flickr in my
Deschutes River Trail photo set.

At the beginning of the hike we encountered a woman with a type of dog I hadn't seen before. She said it was a Thai Ridgeback, not to be confused with a Rhodesian Ridgeback. It was a beautiful dog.

At the end of the hike we encountered a woman walking a cute little dog that looked kinda like a chihuahua (or a rat on a rope). To my inquiry she informed me that the dog was a deer chihuahua. The dog's fur was, on consideration, somewhat like that of a deer. She told us that the dog was really well behaved, and "not a yappy dog". That struck me funny, because I always think of little chihuahuas and pomeranians and papillons as yappy dogs. I would never want a yappy dog. If I had a deer chihuahua to put up for adoption, I think that would be the primary selling point: "Not a yappy dog!"

For a second, I thought that you got a photo of Lindsay's dog. Now, that's a dog.
