Be Unreasonable
George Bernard Shaw once said, "The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable man persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore, all progress is made by the unreasonable man."
Ever since the election, people have been saying that children now have a new role model demonstrating that anyone can grow up to be President of the United States. What was holding them back before? Only the mistaken belief that they couldn't do so. They were held back by their own beliefs, trapped by imagined prison bars.
Barack Obama needed no such role model. Why do we need someone else to show us that something can be done? There's an old saying (by Alfred E. Wiggam) that "A conservative is one who believes that nothing should be done for the first time." Progress is made by those who aren't held back by preconceptions, but who ask that greatest of questions,
"What if...?"
Of course, there's also the saying that "If ten men tell you you're drunk... you better take a seat." (The Battle of the Bulge, 1965)

I beg to differ. I say "What if...?" all the time. In fact, Marilyn was once concerned that I would "what if" myself to death.
Progress is made when those who ask "What if...?" have the ability to answer the question and to make a decision/plan/goal, which is followed by taking action.
LOL
Yeah, true, but it still starts with What If?
