A Creative Courtroom Costsaving

Every time there's a new candidate for the Supreme Court, there's a big frenzy of posturing as various interest groups (read: wild-eyed fanatics) try to influence the outcome. They want to know in advance how the candidate would rule on every possible court case of interest to them. How would they vote on abortion? On gun control? On the use of video games to position politicians for upcoming presidential elections?

All of this deep investigation and oracle seeking has given me an idea. Instead of wasting so much time and money on cases before the Supreme Court, why don't we just give each justice a questionnaire seeking their opinions on all issues expected to come before them. Then, for each case that comes up, there's no need for a trial, they can just read the survey results to see how the judges would rule.

You want to overturn Roe v. Wade? We'll just check the questionnaire. Five judges said they'd overturn Roe v. Wade, and seven said they'd continue to support it. Survey says...!

Think of all the money this would save!

Great idea. We could also expand it to Congress and the President. Aside from saving money, it would also prevent people from saying one thing before the election and doing something entirely different after the election. :)
