Some People Never Learn

Wednesday morning we were in Coos Bay on the Oregon coast, having breakfast, and planning to visit Grants Pass next. Coos Bay is on highway 101, which runs north and south, and I asked the waitress how to get to 42, which would take us east to highway 5. The waitress said she didn't know, she only went north and south. She didn't offer to ask anyone else.

After breakfast we headed out, found 42 just a couple miles south, and drove to Grants Pass. Now I knew where it was, but the waitress still didn't, because she accepted the fact that she didn't know, and she didn't care. You can't learn something unless you want to know it, and know that you don't. It's easy for me to learn, because I want to know everything, and I know I'm an idiot.

Didn't you know that men aren't supposed to ask for directions? :)

Bizzare woman. Funny how some accept not to venture.

Stupid woman, does her providing a service not include at least an attempt to find out the information you asked for?....but then again, I'm an idiot too! heh.

I've often wondered about that: some people either can't or just wont. I feel sorry for both kinds.

Thank you for the inspiring pix and stories, I love road trips!

When I was young, we used to drive through Grants Pass on the way to Eugene (to visit my aunt and uncle) from Southern California. I loved buying little myrtlewood carved animals at the tourist shops. I think I still have them in a box somewhere! :-)

I saw a lot signs for myrtlewood stuff in Coos Bay. Just what is myrtlewood, anyway? What makes it so nice?

I have no idea. I think it's rare or something? I was little, like animals, and thought the myrtlewood stuff was cool, so I bought it. I don't know much beyond that. :-)
