No Soda
Just before we moved to Oregon, I made a trip by myself with a van-full of furniture and boxes. To move the dinner table, I removed the leaves, turned it upside down and removed the legs. I wrapped up the legs in a furniture pad, and when I turned back to the table, our cat Ringo had taken up residence on it. What are you gonna do?
In the photo below, you'll note the absence of a refrigerator. The new house didn't come with one, and the buyers of the old house wanted the one we had.
"Honey, I'd sure love an ice-cold Coke right now."
"But baby, we don't have a refrigerator!"
American ingenuity:
We soon realized that, with temperatures in the 20's and 30's, our garage made an excellent walk-in refrigerator, so I no longer dumped my sodas in the backyard snow.
As promised, above is a photo of our new abode. It's a winter wonderland.
If you missed it, other photos of the new house can be found here:

Wow, it really is picturesque. Freezing, but pretty :o)
That is beautiful. How long do the winters last there?
We once went a couple of months without a real refridgerator. Our old refridgerator and been given away, the new fridge had been delivered to the new house and slope problems at the new house kept us in a apartment for two months. We got a tiny bar fridge that had two temperatures, freezing and off. Cans were either puffed out and frozen or warm.
I too was able to bring my job with me when we moved from Ventura to San Diego last July. It's pretty cool huh? I love it and so far my employer seems to be happy. I'm afraid they will at some point get 'weird' about me not physically being there but so far, so good. When someone calls my office in Camarillo it automatically rings in my home here in Oceanside. Caller ID gives me away occasionally and I have to "confess" to a client where I am and what's going on but for the most part my move has been undetected by customers. I miss working at the airport where there's always something "goofy" going on but it's nice to sneak to the gym for lunch and not worry about what I look like afterwards.
Woooowwww...what fab house, it's beautiful....but not as fab as the 'cat in the table' pic! heh
Blogger has stopped sending me e mails when I get a comment. Are you having the same problem or is it just me?
I have always had a problem getting comment notices. It'll get better for a while, and then it'll degrade again. It's not just you. :)
i have family over in central oregon! the scenery is wonderful but all this snow means we only visit in the summer!
i really enjoyed my visit to your blog and hope you dont mind i blog rolled you so i can continue to visit!
Stop by any time! The blog's always open. :)
Ah, Dave, the place looks... magical! Right down to the coke in the snow. LOL
Ringo is cute. :)
As long as it's winter, you don't really need a fridge. For icecubes, just have a go at the icicles hanging out there ;) But I guess that won't do for the summer!
