Oops!
One of Connie's sisters told us the other night about a strange phone call she'd gotten. It was a woman talking with a thick accent, and her sister couldn't understand a thing that was being said. She hates telemarketers (as I do!), so she told the woman to take her off the list and never call again. I do the same thing when a telemarketer calls.
But still the woman continued, calling Connie's sister by name. Her sister got mad, cursed the woman profusely and hung up on her.
All of a sudden, it dawns on Connie's sister that she may have erred. She calls her brother and asks, "Did your fiancee just call me?" Yes, he says. (His fiancee is from the Philippines.) So the sister apologizes profusely.
My brother-in-law's fiancee came with him to Christmas dinner tonight. She brought ponsit, a Filipino dish. But I didn't eat it. You never know...

That recipe wasn't quite right. The dish I know as pancit has both pork and weird seafood parts in a mass of sticky rice noodles held together by thick grease, topped with quail eggs. Yes, it's disgusting, but you should have eaten it anyway to be polite. That's why anti-emetics were invented.

Sorry, Melissa. I just googled it and picked a recipe at random.
We had way too much food there. Connie made stuffing and candied yams. I made noodle pudding. There was turkey and stuffing, roast beef, ham, poncit, vegetable casserole, potatoes, dinner rolls, ambrosia, key lime pie, chocolate cream pie, fruit cake, mince pie and apple pie. With all the food, and all the people, nobody could track what others ate, nor fault them for missing something. (I need to do some serious dieting, btw.)
Aren't anti-emetics contra-indicated for some poisons? :)
You're so close on the nurse call. She cooks in the cafeteria at a hospital somewhere around Victorville.
