Tech Turnaround Time?

Just over a year and a half ago, I was out of work and had been for several months. I checked job web sites, I sent out resume after resume, and pretty much all I heard were crickets. That seems to be changing.

For the past month or so, I've started getting emails from companies wanting to know if I'm interested in a job. Of course, I now have a job I'm happy at, and I'm moving to Oregon and don't wish to relocate to Toronto or Redwood City or Austin. But it's nice to know that the job market for geeks like me is improving. And it's nice to be wanted.

It is fun to be wanted. As a nurse, I almost feel like royalty with all of the offers of employment and promises of huge sign on bonuses arriving almost daily in the mail. Of course that feeling goes away as soon as I start my shift and work with all kinds of things that I doubt royalty ever produces much less cleans up.

By the way, my father's family was originally from Oregon, but they later migrated to Idaho. Go figure.

Is it true that Oregonians hate Californians? It might be a good idea to get Oregon plates on your cars before moving there.
