A Good Bird Day
Spring must be coming. Today we were visited by Oregon races, nuthatches, black-capped chickadees, starlings, steller's jays, a northern flicker, and squirrels. Come on, spring!

I looked at the links and couldn't help but notice that the more common name for chickadees is tits. I can't believe that you passed on the opportunity to use that word.
Regarding jays, are you going to try and tame a new one? The old one must wonder what happened to you?
The old jay didn't care who fed it, as long as someone gave him his treats. I made sure to show the new owner how to feed to him.
So far, I've only seen the Steller's jays once or twice. If they show up more often, I'll try training them. In the meantime, I may see if the squirrels can be trained.
I left the chickadee nomenclature as an exercise for my readers. I write more about cats and birds than pussies and tits. (Not that there's anything wrong with that!) ;)
Be forewarned.
Squirrels can be trained. Not only that, they are very early risers.
As a child, my uncle and I trained a squirrel that we named Peanuts to take --- yes --- peanuts from our hands. We started feeding him from the sill of our bedroom window.
Little did we know that he would start knocking on the window at 6AM demanding to be fed. If we didn't feed him, he moved on to my grandparent's window.
Needless to say, they put a rapid stop to our squirrel taming days.
hmmm... that's a good warning. I'll have to think about that. Maybe the trick is to only feed them from a certain spot... away from the house.
Where do you live, that you only see jays occasionally? They heckle us all day long! Obnoxious birds.
And, by the way, Hi! Thanks for stopping by my blog.
