Excuse Me, Sir

As I mentioned in an earlier post about my friend's hurdy gurdy and the goth guy with good manners, hearing polite and refined speech from a young goth surprised me. This happened to me again on Wednesday. I was approached by a young goth guy who asked, "Excuse me Sir, but have you the time?"

I mentioned these events to our friend Kim Feer, who publishes the Newberry Eagle, a small newspaper in La Pine. She wasn't surprised by the goth's speech. She explained that since goths are into the Rennaisance and Victorian eras, and often into vampires, they adopt the speech patterns of that era. Now it all makes sense to me. Thanks, Kim!
