Voting Against the Bulletin
Deschutes County Ballot Drop-Off Locations
Our local newspaper, the Bulletin, lists who they think we should vote for. That alone irritates me. Do they think people should just vote for who the Bulletin recommends, rather than think for themselves? Do they think people who read their news still aren't informed enough to make their own decisions?
I've compared my votes with what the paper recommends. As to candidates, I disagreed with the Bulletin on five out of nine offices I voted on. On the measures, I disagreed with the Bulletin on eight of the thirteen measures.
The Bulletin appeared to endorse candidates almost strictly according to party affiliation. Maybe they don't bother to consider the merits of each case, but just follow the endorsements of their party without thinking.
They certainly seemed to choose their endorsement for president without a dispassionate analysis. They totally ignored who would rule the country if something happened to their choice for president. I'm left wondering if they chose endorsements based on faith, ignorance, or maybe what would result in the most advertising sales.
There were a few times I had trouble deciding which side to vote for. So I did more research. I must admit, though, I was tempted to simply vote the opposite of the Bulletin.

That's the papers which endorsed G W Bush twice and proud of it!
Unbelievable!
And look how well that turned out. LOL
What does that say about the Bulletin's judgement of candidates?
