Blowing Snow
I have one of the cheapest Sears snow throwers I could find. I rarely use it. It's heavy and noisy, it uses gas, it only works when the snow is light and fluffy, and it just builds up a berm of snow next to the driveway.
So I shovel it. (No snickers.) I toss the snow as far from the driveway as I can, so it doesn't build up a wall I can't throw over, and it's my main source of exercise in the winter (other than drumming).
At the party the other night, I was chatting with coworker Bob, and when we talked about clearing driveways he raved and raved about his Honda snow thrower. It's a one-stage thrower, but he says it throws the snow 25 feet away, he has to be careful not to hit his neighbor's house, it's easy to use, yada yada yada.
People in Bend are passionate about their snow.

I have a teenage son instead of a snow blower. Works pretty well, especially when bribed. Probably pencils out to be way more expensive in the long run though, after you figure in all the food & clothing expenses. ;-)
Our daughter never shoveled snow. She's more likely to distract other people's snow blowers. :)
