Mag-Lites Rock
As I've mentioned before, I love flashlights. I have amazingly bright little LED flashlights from Target the size of a quarter that clip to things, and I have big two-cell and three-cell Mag-Lite flashlights. Mag-Lites are well-nigh indestructible. I keep one next to the bed, that I've knocked over several times a week for years, and it still runs great.
Here in lovely California, we get fires, earthquakes, power outages, you name it. Having a flashlight next to the bed is one of the best things you can do to prepare for an emergency. And the nice thing about a big Mag-Lite is that it doubles as a weapon. Have you ever wondered why cops hold them in that odd underhand way they do when they shine the light in your face? It's so if you get uppity they can just flip the other end of the flashlight upside your head.
Mag-Lites have spare bulbs in the base. The switch works in both momentary and constant-on modes. It's waterproof and gasproof (which help keep from blowing things up from sparking). You can focus the beam. It's just a great flashlight. And I say that as a non-employee, non-affiliated consumer. I'm just a guy who keeps them on both sides of the bed, and between the seats in the cars. You never know.

Ooooo, I want one of those little 'quareter size' lights, having just gotten hold of my first quarter recently I now know just how small that is....very funky. Oh and Mag-lights rock, which I rarely say about something I sell for a living :o)
It is a good idea to have several flashlights. I only have one and it works fine until I need it and then the battery is dead.
I used to go through AA and AAA batteries like there was no tomorrow. I've weaned myself from devices that require lots of batteries, and now have mostly rechargables.
But I put high-quality D Cells in the mag-lites, because you never know when you're gonna have to rely on them. They seem to last a long time with only intermittent use. I change them at least once a year.
I guess I'm disaster-conscious. Why is that? :)
magz-lite! hehe, i like em too, tho i've never gotten the hang of holding the mini-magz tween yer teeth without droolin... (emergency wrenching under a dark truck)
hey dave-o! heeeelp, EYE dont see em, but some else told me the eeevul pop-up monster hides out on my blog, what do i do bout them? geek-tweak from the master Mr. G... please!
Magz-Lites! LOL! What happens when you turn them on? Never mind, I don't wanna know! ;)
I believe the reason your site is spawning popups is the use of Bravenet services. See Bravenet Popups.
We love Mag-Lites. We keep one next to our bed, too. It's a very pretty royal-blue colored one and you are VERY right about it doubling as a weapon in a pinch. LOL Sean and I laugh about this.
They do knock over easily, though. And when laid down on a hard surface (like a concrete floor that isn't exactly level) they tend to roll. They need to put some kind of ergonomic 'kickstand' on the darn thing - one that wouldn't interfere with the weapon-like qualities of it, though. ;)
In other news, one of the members at the forum I run posted some pics he found that I think you'll get a kick out of. He happened to post them on our favorite catch-all thread, the Whatever thread, which is miles and miles long. I'll save you time in finding them and give you the link to the specific page of the thread. You'll just need to scroll down to a post by Ben, which shows the photos of a modified pc. LOL It's, um, "cool". And geeky. Yes, everyone decided it was geeky. Enjoy. (You'll have to bring your own Coke, though. ;) )
There's a link at the bottom of the post for further info as to the why and how the person had to make the modifications. Read that post, too, for even further enjoyment. :)
Hell yeah Magz...you have a big pop up mosnter there girl....and it is Bravenet's doing.
Yes, let's hear it for lights. And candles for those dog-gone rolling blackouts when they occur.
I recently picked up a couple of lights, which use lithium batteries and have halogen bulbs. Convenient, small and light weight with a clip for a variety of uses. It's perfect for when I want to read, but I don't wish to wake my husband.
They'll make a wonderful gift for a certain someone I know who loves lights! Now, who might that be? ::wink::
