Are the Stars out Tonight?

Every view from our house is an incredible vista of beauty, and it changes every day. The sky changes, the snow changes, and it changes how it all looks. Yesterday and today were clear and sunny, which has been a rarity since we moved here.

Tonight I took out the barrels and stopped in my tracks in the middle of the driveway in my robe and slippers. The stars!!!

We're at over 4000 feet in altitude here. The stars were crisp and clear and bright, and Orion, my favorite constellation, was looking down at me from the top of the heavens. I had to remember to breathe.

Speaking of which, since we moved Connie has been able to significantly reduce the amount of antihistamines and other meds she takes for her asthma. This was a good move.

Orion is my favorite constellation also, mainly because it's the only one that I can recognise. I haven't had a clear view of the stars since the earthquake when LA went dark.

Do you normally trudge through the snow in your slippers?

Good to hear from you again, Claude! Have you seen No Soda and Come On In? I'll probably post another picture tonight.

I don't trudge through snow. :) The driveway is pretty packed down from the car, so we can walk on it without sinking in. Connie goes out every morning to get the paper in her robe and slippers, but I hardly ever do. Except this morning, when I looked out the window to see a half-dozen humungourous crows pecking through a trash bag they'd picked open and strewn garbage everywhere. From now on, it all goes in barrels. *mutter*

Me too do. Want to see photos that is. Are you in that place in Oregon where there's a river and rapids and a few small resorts and a quaint little town with a pizza place that starts with a "B"? Not the pizza place, the town? It's up in the mountains? I was there once (the "B" town in Oregon up in the mountains)but it was during a major breakdown of an ex-marriage so as much as I enjoyed it (the town, not the marriage or the breakdown of the marriage) it left a little to be desired under the circumstances.

Glad it's all working out for you 2 :)

If it's the B town, I've been there. It was beautiful, but we only stayed long enough to get gas and use the facilities. If you're not doing so already, you need to start skiing, at least cross-country.

A lot of people here ask if I ski or fish. I guess those are two of the top activities in the area. It makes me wonder sometimes what I'm doing here. I don't ski, don't fish, don't even eat seafood. But there's an incredible number of pizza places. :)

Pizza, coke and a computer, that sounds fine to me. You don't need to kill fish and slide around on the snow to be happy. :)

my dad and brothers live several miles outside of LaPine in the boonies of Central Oregon, and they noticed, when they moved there from the coast ten years ago that the allergies the boys suffered from were drastically reduced. its wonderful fresh clear "dry" mountain air. we were out that way for the fourth of july fair last year there in LaPine (my brother was playing in guitar) and it was well over 100 degrees.
