Snow

I've never spent much time in the snow before moving here. It amazes me how it can take so many forms, how it can create so many changes to the environment. Some day I'll have to wax more poetic about it, about its beauty, silence and transformation.

One of the joys of snow I've been discovering is its ability to hold tracks. On my way to get the paper in the morning I'll see the tracks of visitors we've had in the night. Deer. Dogs. Raccoons. Cats.

One day we came home after being gone for the weekend, and I found footprints leading from the street to the house, accompanied by dog tracks. One glance, and I knew what had transpired in our absence.

Our neighbors, Karen and her dog Buddy, had noticed that we were gone and brought the newspapers from the curb to our porch so that passersby of bad intent wouldn't know that we were gone. I knew, because it was written in the snow.

It pleases me to no end that you have discovered the wonders that nature's magical white powder brings with it.

Yes, it definitely transforms your surroundings and your spirit along with it.

That is one of the prettiest "white" photos I've seen!

I love the step-language of it.

And yes, living in the snow definitely offers 'writings' from which to glean information about recent happenings. When/if you come home to any weird 20-foot-wide prints, please do snap some shots and put up some kind of fun guessing game for us! ;)

Too bad we're outside the territory of the infamous Point Loma Bigpaw. ;)
