Sadie Hawkins People

So I was reading the Advice Goddess today (don't ask) and she advised that a good relationship cannot be expected when initiated by a woman asking the man out. Is that true?

So I'm asking you. Have you ever asked a man out? Has a woman ever asked you out? Do you know anybody who has been in this situation? Has it ever worked out? Color me curious.

These days I have to do the asking if I ever want to go out and they have all been failures. I guess if they had been interested in me to begin with, they would have done the asking.

Well, it's not quite accurate that I never get asked out, men my father's age find me attractive and men who are financially struggling and want my money are also interested in me. :(

SOME men are in such a fog that they practically need a sledgehammer to the head before they realize that a woman is even interested in them.

SOME men can be so totally oblivious that the most blatant remarks and actions a woman can muster fail to register or somehow end up completely unnoticed.

If you happen to be a woman who is interested in such a man, then forget asking him out! Go backpacking with him, jump his bones and marry him!

27 years come April 28th and still going strong!

When i first met the man who is now my husband, he was in the guise of a Paladin of Mithaniel Marr on Everquest back in early 2000. i was a halfling. He was fresh out of the service and i was fresh out of a long relationship. We continued to play everquest and get to know each other as friendly hunting partners never knowing what was in store for us. (we play everquest to this day even though we had breaks for Star Wars Galaxies, eq2 and WoW) In 2001 my roommate joined up with the navy after Sept 11th. I jokingly asked my "Dama" who's real name i didnt even know at that time, to come be my roommate, since i was losing mine. He called me on the phone, we called back and forth for about 2 months. He got on an airplane from Florida to Orgeon and he never looked back.
It just depends on the people involved I guess.

Dave, you are at least six years younger than you might feel.

April 20th was our 21st wedding anniversary; April 28th will be the 27th anniversary of our backpacking trip.

I don't know what "works out" means, but ages ago a woman asked me out and we had five good years and two okay ones before we finally decided to call it quits.

And I'd do it again.

So it sounds like the Advice Goddess is reading from the wrong book. Sometimes a woman can ask out a man and it works out (whatever that means).

It also sounds like, despite popular belief, you can meet someone online who's not a poodle and that can work out (whatever that means).

You were a halfling, Dak-Ind? Did you have pointy ears? Pointy ears have always turned me on. Damn, I sure miss playing RPGs.

It also sounds like, once again, I needed Candace to correct a misconception of mine. See, I am getting old! My memory is going! ;)

Pointy ears have always turned you on? Does that mean you had a thing for Spock?

No, not Spock. Silly girl. But female Vulcans, or elves, elflings, etc.? You betcha! :)
