Hip Hop

I have a planter in the front yard with kitchen herbs growing in it. (Cilantro, spearmint, rosemary, sage and onion.) Attached to the planter is also an electrical outlet I use to power the pond pump and the filter. The other day I opened the cover to unplug the filter so I could clean it, and what I found is the little guy pictured above. He hopped out and landed in the kitchen herbs.

The homemade filter, by the way, is working great. The water in the pond is finally clear. I can see the bottom of the pond again! I think the fish like it, too.

Yesterday while I was watering I found the same little guy, again inside the outlet box. I think he likes it there. I also found a second frog sitting on a sage leaf. I think if I were French, the appearance of frogs in the kitchen herbs would give me ideas.

Are you sure that it's the same frog? The markings look different to me. :)

FROGS in Central Oregon? I have yet to see one. I was just telling someone I haven't seen rabbits or racoons either!

Neat find! It was nice of him to hold still while you snapped the pics.

I went with Scott when he played a twilight round at River's Edge last week and there were rabbits everywhere.

Really? The markings look the same to me.

Frogs in CO, Shannon. You should hear them at night. :)

We've seen rabbits near our home, but no raccoons yet. This morning we had a group of deer, including a young buck with velvet on his antlers.

Hey, I just noticed, you changed the view out your window. It's no longer city lights, but your real front yard. Cute.

I think he found a ladyfriend. I wonder if we'll soon have polliwogs?

It seems that you might have a Pacific Treefrog.

At Nevada City, the frogs love to hang out by the water heater, which has its own little room outside the cabin.

Good call, Candace! That looks a lot like our little guy. He likes to sit under our bridge or Japanese lanterns sometimes so his calls resonate loudly.

Aren't you on the Atlantic, Michelle? :)
