I want the next president to be a white male.

Does that irritate you? Infuriate you? Why?

Truth is, I don't care what race or gender the next president is. What I would like is for them to be qualified, smart and ethical. I'd probably vote for Condoleeza Rice if she ran.

There are people who'd vote for Barack Obama simply because he's black. Is that wrong? If it's not, then it must be okay to vote for a candidate simply because they're white.

There are people who'd vote for Hillary Clinton simply because she's female. Is that wrong? If it's not, then it must be okay to vote for a candidate simply because he's male.

If someone says, "It's time there was a woman in the White House" I think to myself "It's time there was a genius in the White House." If that genius is female, fine by me. But not because she's female. If that genius is black, fine by me, but not because they're black. If the best slogan a candidate can come up with is, "Vote for me because I'm (insert minority here)", then you've already lost my vote. Try, instead, "Vote for me because I have this plan to protect your rights, promote world peace and improve the economy." Now that's something I'd vote for!
