Writer's Block

I'm not writing right now. I should be, but I'm not. I'm blogging. My novel sits, neglected, on my hard drive waiting for me to get my wit together.

Tonight I attended the Bend Poetry Slam. Love that thing. It really gets your brain cells dancing around and bumping into each other.

One of the poets, Shakes, related something he'd been taught by "Brother John" at another venue: "When you've got writer's block... write about it!"

I'll have to remember that. The other thing Shakes did that I appreciated, other than a slammin' performance, was that when he froze up and couldn't remember the next line, he asked the audience for "some lovin'" and the applause got him going again. Unique approach. And it worked.
