Recap

I've been a little remiss in posting updates to the blog. Here's some of the stuff I should have added.
About a week ago we saw Mike Biggers when he performed at WineStyles. He's not only a singer/songwriter and great guitar player, he's crazy funny. He explained that when he learns a piece someone else wrote, he plays their record over and over again until he can reproduce it perfectly. He then demonstrated by playing a cover of an old record... including the skips and pops! Hysterical. I think my favorite line of the night was when he described seeing an older musician perform, who had been up too late the night before, and he kept forgetting the music. The musician's wife said, "When he's like this he could hide his own Easter eggs!" I feel that way sometime.
Tonight we saw the David Bowers Trio at 28 (a lounge and martini bar) in Bend. They were actually a quartet, featuring Shireen Amini as well as regulars David Bowers, Aaron Miller and Jared Forqueran. This band is freakishly talented. They'll be performing soon at the Summit (along with the talented Anastacia) and at the Silver Moon Brewery. Don't miss them.
Wednesday we attended the High Desert Bellydance Showcase at the 541 Lounge in Bend. Someday I hope to be able to play doumbek for bellydancers, but I still need to hone my skills more. You can find some of the photos I took at the showcase on my Bellydance Showcase set on Flickr. So much natural beauty in Central Oregon.
