Weekend Update

Saturday we went to a barbecue we'd been invited to where nobody knew us. It had nothing to do with drummers. The food was provided by Country Catering in Bend, and was really good. We first tried their food at last year's Bite of Bend, and then again at their restaurant. mmmmm, barbecue

Then last night I went to a drum circle in Alfalfa and had a great time. Good people. On the way there I passed a street named "Byram" which I noticed is "Mary B" if spelled backwards. That's just the way my brain works. Or misfires.

I went into the woods today and dug up a few manzanita bushes and planted them in the yard. I've loved manzanita ever since I went to summer camp in Big Bear. We had a tasty lunch at Longboard Louies, which we first tried at last year's Bite of Bend. (Looking forward to this year's. I'm hungry just thinking about it.)

After lunch we headed towards Tumalo Falls. We've tried a few times this year to go to the falls, but the road has been closed from snow or mud. Today we succeeded. It's a beautiful drive, and a wonderful waterfall. This area is blessed with many awesome waterfalls, and we're trying to visit each one. You can see more of my pics of it on my Flickr Tumalo Falls photoset.

Another high point of the weekend for me was an unexpected email. I have a web page with the names of many of the people I've met, and certain family members. If one of those people Google their name, they'll find my page and my email address. A distant relative, living in Australia, Googled a common ancestor and found my page, and we're going to exchange family tree info. I've been waiting for so long to reconnect with the clan that went to New Zealand and Australia.

Was this a good weekend? You bet!

How did you get invited to another party where no one knows you?

Your web page that lists so many of the people you have known is a great idea. That's how I found you. Who can resist doing vanity searches?

We belong to an electric cooperative, and attended their annual picnic. :) Our electric bills here are less than a third of what they were in California
