Visit Your Town
Have you ever noticed that sometimes tourists see more of your area than you do? I know lots of people who don't check out the museums, events or attractions that most visitors do. We love exploring, but we make sure to explore our own area whenever something catches our eye.
I just ran across a website called Travel Oregon that I'll be keeping an eye on. It even has a blog I've added to my list. I don't want those pesky tourists knowing more about my home than I do!

We always try to get our staff to actually do the stuff they're pitching to tourists coming to the area, but your point is well taken: there are a LOT of touristy things in the area that the locals pretty much avoid, but this time of year is the best time to go as it's a really slow tourism time.
