High Desert Memorial Day
Today we visited Smith Rock State Park, about a half hour north of Bend, and the nearby Peter Skene Ogden State Park (Crooked River) and Cove Palisades State Park (Lake Billy Chinook). Photos here, here and here. And here's an experimental panorama I shot at Smith Rock (try scrolling it sideways):
hmmm... okay, this only works in recent versions of IE. If you have Firefox, you just see a squished image. Sorry. You can also view it by clicking here. (Can anyone help here?) Anyway...
It was beautiful, clear and sunny throughout our trip. Afterwards, I barbecued in the backyard. It drizzled. Welcome to the high desert.

That panaroma was brilliant, you clever sausage!
The panorama looked great. There is so much natural beauty in Oregon. I'm not sure that I would like driving across that bridge, though. Just looking at it made my knees go weak.
We walked across one of the bridges to get some photos from directly above the river. It's only 300 feet down! ;)
BTW, the three places we went, Smith Rock, Peter Skene Ogden and Cove Palisades, are all along the Crooked River.
Sorry I made your knees go weak. LOL
Yup, my Firefox squished it into a little mountain burrito.
mmm... burrito. LOL
That's very descriptive, beajerry. You should be a writer! ;)
