Canon Fire

Canon in D on an electric guitar.

There's a lot of classical music that I love. (Thanks, Bal!) I've encountered many classical music pieces in movies. Forever after, I think of that movie when I hear the music.

Soylent Green - Beethoven's 6th
Zardoz - Beethoven's 7th
Pied Piper of Hamelin - Liszt's Hall of the Mountain King
2001: A Space Odyssey - The Blue Danube, Thus Spake Zarathustra
Ordinary People - Pachelbel's Canon in D

One day I was chatting with Les Crane, CEO of Mindscape, and I found out he enjoyed classical music. He said he liked to visualize the music as he listened to it. I said, "You must like the movie Fantasia, then."

"I hate Fantasia!" he replied.

When I asked why, he explained that he liked to form his own visualizations. Once he saw a movie with a certain piece, he was forced thereafter to think of someone else's visualization when hearing the music.

Makes sense to me. It's like having an image of Dr. Langdon in your head, that you've formed from reading The Da Vinci Code, and then it's ruined when you see Tom Hanks as Dr. Langdon. After that, Langdon always looks like Hanks in your head. Damn Hollywood!

Quite a few songs have been ruined for me because of commercials. I don't want to hear a song and think of a product, I want my own thoughts.

When I listen to music, I choreograph dance routines in my mind.

So, Melissa, what are you going to wear for Halloween? :)

Me, too, Michelle. "Soylent Green is people!!!" (Except, in the book, it's not people. Not exactly. It's worse.) ;)

I will dress as a nurse for Halloween. We're not allowed to wear any other type of costume to work.

If I could, I would dress as a ballerina in a big poofy tutu. Why do you ask? :)
