Benefit Concert

I received the following humorous email from Willie Carmichael today promoting his new CD and, more importantly, Saturday's Relay for Life benefit concert...

Hi friends,
I hope this finds you well and happy as the frogs preaching to the choir in my neighbor's (almost) empty kiddie pool. Please see the attached poster for info on Saturday's cancer benefit show at St. Charles. I hope to see you there.

Also------there's this:

New CD Has Arrived
Yep. While you all were goofing off, snarfing down cocktail wienies at Obama fundraisers, and giving your kids unsolicited feedback on their personal hygiene, Dale Largent and I have been hard at work on my new CD, Serious Business.

And now, through the magic of electricity, it's done. It's been composed, arranged, rehearsed, recorded, dubbed, over-dubbed, under-dubbed, re-dubbed, rub-a-dub-dubbed, mixed, mastered, and mailed.

Serious Business is 12 tracks—11 songs plus a nifty intro--with more light-hearted material than fans of my previous effort, Whistling Past The Graveyard, will remember. This will please those of you who tried to cut your wrists after that one. But there's still the usual happy array of peeping Toms, clumsy lovers, disoriented children, dope fiends, and kidnappings. It's a beautiful world, you know?

Dale's done a terrific job recording and producing it, riding herd on me and the many stellar players. It includes performances from musical geniuses J. Patrick Lombardi, Ed Zancanella, Peter Heithoff, Dale his own self, Dennis McGregor, Aaron-Andre Miller, Julie Southwell, Joe Schulte, Lucky McCall, Steve Neth, and the very pregnant Evin Faulhaber, not to mention Dale's kids and Molly Jim.

You can hear some clips at Willie Wide Web (Just click on the Listen page) or three full-length songs at the Willie Carmichael MySpace page.

I hope you’ll consider buying or one or several of these gems. I have a thousand of 'em lying around, and I need to sell 'em quick or we'll have to start eating Jeanie's laying hens… lemme know if you want some and I'll hook you up.

Thanks as always to all of you for your kind support, and remember to get out and hear some live music this summer at a festival, barbeque, church, temple, mosque, library, house concert, mud hut, taco stand, car wash, big-ass les schwab amphitheater, wine tasting, tree house B & B, or beer joint near you.

peace, love, and a little hickory smoke,

your pal Willie
