Your Own Personal Escape Pod

Is it just me, or do you see a new sport emerging from these new Escape Pods for Burning Buildings?

That's funny. I don't think that I would get in one, though, unless the building really was on fire. Roller coasters more than meet my need for thrill rides.

I work on the eighth floor and I would be interested in some kind of escape system, especially since the fire alarm goes off several times a day. But, we are required to stay put. What's the point in even having alarms if we are required to ignore them? We just close the patient's doors, smile and lie that it's just a drill.

I don't ride roller coasters much any more. I've never felt the deep need for physical excitement that some seem to crave. Movies, books, conversation and exploration sate my urges for adventure.

Hopefully your management doesn't read the comments you leave. A stay in the hospital seems more foreboding than a haunted house!

A stay in the hospital is extremely scary and I don't think that management would disagree with anything that I've ever written. And if they ever get upset over anything that I write, then maybe I'll take it up a notch and tell the really good stories. Does that sound like blackmail? I'm just kidding. I wouldn't do that. ;)

My employer has a well-deserved reputation for discharging patients early. They justify this in part by saying that it is safer for a person to be at home. It is estimated that 100,000 patients die each year in the U.S. from hospital acquired infections. And, what about all of the other things that go wrong?

None of these problems are unique to my employer. All hospitals are dangerous. The best advice is to not get sick.

On the subject of roller coasters, I love and crave the adrenalin rush it gives me. I would really like to jump out of an airplane, but I'm too afraid of being hurt. I only like safe thrills. It is depressing, though, being the oldest person in line and having to take muscle relaxers and Advil before I get on the rides and then being sore for the next few days. For being just a kid, I sure have an old body. :)

Reminds me of the old joke about the woman about to go on an ocean cruise. She goes to the pharmacist to get some Dramamine and refill her birth control pills.

The pharmacist looks at the Dramamine and the pills and asks her, "If it makes you sick, why do you do it?" :D

I MUST have an escape pod! How cool would it be to deploy one of those things in the middle of a library or something like that...

or maybe if you were in the grocery store and you saw someone that you knew, but didn't really want to talk to : BAM! deploy the pod, avoid the conversation...

where can I buy one?

Funny joke, Dave. The answer to why I ride coasters is because it hurts so good. ;D

Lol. Probably a better sport to come of it than true mechanism for escaping tall buildings!

Sorry to but in. heh.

Gemmak, have you noticed that Dave has ignored your tag? Are you going to let him get away with that? :)
