Big News!!!

We got some good news today. Really good news. I told Connie the news, and she jumped up and down and hugged me. Then she went and told the cat. Yes, she was so excited, she had to tell somebody, so she told the cat. "Daddy got a new job!" He didn't seem very impressed. (Yes, I seem to be the cat's daddy. Don't ask.)

I'll be writing software for a company in Bend that makes small industrial devices. The people seem really nice, the software is of a type I'm good at, and I'm looking forward to it.

We went out to dinner to celebrate. The butter (shown here) was pretty. My steak came with yard clippings "micro-greens" on it. They were tasty. We always celebrate a new job at a nice restaurant. This job came to me via Jen. I owe her big-time.

Connie may have a new job as well, working part-time in a bookstore. We'll get to go out to celebrate again. Just what we need, a discount on books.

Congrats on the big move!

PS: The Blue Fish Bistro is one of my favorite restaurants of all time. The best BEST BEST seafood dish I've ever had was their halibut dinner. I'm a tad jealous.

Thanks! We're pretty happy here.

I think Connie's favorite seafood is the steelhead trout at Pine Tavern, but I'll have to ask if that is still her all-time fave. It used to be the cedar plank salmon at Johnny Garlic's in California, but steelhead supplanted salmon. She also loves the catfish at Baldy's. You know me, I don't do fish.

The steak was great, but lots of places have great steak. I was hoping to see some molecular gastronomy, but none was in evidence. The homemade bread and homemade butter were good. The tiramisu was killer. Best I've had in Bend. Tiramisu varies a lot from place to place. I like when it's super light and not too sweet, not heavy or cake-y. BFB's was divine.

This was our first time at Blue Fish Bistro. So many places to eat! I think next on my list is Deep. Haven't been there yet, either.
